Yeovil and Samarate twinned in June 2000 with a civic ceremony in Yeovil. In September 2000, a civic twinning ceremony was held in Samarate. The folk of Samarate made the Yeovil visitors most welcome. The shops were adorned with 'twinning' balloons, English & Italian flags and the spirit of twinning was tangible.
In 2010 Samarate 'town' (commune) was awarded the status as a City (Citta). Congratulations!
Samarate is only 18 miles from the wonderful city of Milan and of course not far from the incredibly beautiful lakes.
Samarate is the home of the Italian branch of AgustaWestland Helicopters.
